Sign-up for Summer Reading Club is ongoing all summer long. Drop-in to the Library to pick up your welcome pack and get started. Log your reading minutes, complete challenges or share a book review! Each age group offers different opportunities to enter draws for great prizes - and all you have to do is READ!
*Audiobooks count too!
Who: For ages 0-12
When: Starting June 15 and running until August 24
How: Visit the Library to register at the Circulation desk. Use your clock bookmarks to track the number of minutes you spend reading or listening to stories over the summer!
How to get started...
Come to our launch party on June 15 at 1:00 pm to sign up and get your reading kit. If you can’t be at the launch party, you can still sign up anytime during the summer at the Library Circulation desk!
Borrow material from the Library or read books you have at home. Start counting the number of minutes you spend reading or listening to stories using your clock bookmark as a reading log.
Complete one bookmark (1 clock = 60 minutes) and return your bookmarks to the Library for an entry into one of three weekly prizes*.
Keep reading or listening to books and colouring in your clocks. You can enter for the weekly draws all summer long! You can get more clock bookmarks each time you visit the Library!
*There will be three weekly prizes each week from June 15 to August 24 for a total of 30 prizes. Prize winners will be contacted each week.
You can pick up your instructions and bookmarks at the Library or download them and print at home (available for download June 13).
Who: For ages 12-19
When: Starting June 15 and running until August 24
How: Pick up your Summer Reading Club brochure at the Circulation desk in the Library. Participate in challenges, track your reading, attend Teen programs at the Library, and more. Receive scratch tickets for your participation and win prizes!
How to get started...
Come to our launch party on June 15 between 1 and 3 pm to sign up and get your reading kit. We will be showing the movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes for free in the Library Theatre at 2:30 pm. Can't make it? No problem... you can still sign up anytime during the summer at the Library Circulation desk!
Complete a challenge in the brochure and earn a scratch ticket for each challenge.
Read anything! Record how long you read on the bookmark reading logs you received in your welcome pack. Earn a ticket for every two hours you read.
Attend a Library program and earn a scratch ticket.
Once a day, you can earn a ticket by checking anything out from the Library.
You can pick up your brochure and reading logs at the Library or download them and print at home (available for download June 13).
Who: For adults 18+
When: Starting June 15 and running until August 24
How: Read, Read, Read! Audiobooks count too! Earn ballots towards weekly $10 gift card prizes for every book read (maximum 1 book/ballot per day). Earn an additional ballot for the weekly draw by completing a brief book review for our wall!
Each ballot will also earn participants a chance to win the grand prize draw (valued at approx. $150).
